CMP-09-24-2006: CrapMonkey Podcast Episode 107

It’s the end of a beautiful weekend in Ballard.  The sun was out and the Seahawks were winning… what more could you ask for?  In this episode, I recap what seemed like a very fast week.  Next weekend, I’ll be heading down to the Podcast and Portable Media Expo, so be on the look out for audio from that event.  Fremont Oktoberfest came and went and I never made it down there, however, Leavenworth Oktoberfest is quickly approaching.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if you enjoy Washington beers, you need to sign up for WABL at Washingtonbeers.com.  Speaking of beer, I came across some pretty cool goblets made from Recycled beer bottles that are worth a peek.

The Song of the day is Flames in Synergy by Inner Surge and the website of the day is Jiwire.com.  We close on a song being performed by Mary, a friend we made while sharing a campfire and some smores in the Yakima River Canyon.

Well, I’m pent up at a Hilton in Bellevue, but I thought I’d get a podcast out.  In this episode, I share audio from our evening out on Saturday.  We went to Brouwers for a birthday, the Ballard Art Walk to view some photography, and then went to a block party in West Seattle.  As such, we chat with some interesting folks, including photographer Carrie Robinson.

The song of the day is 1974 by Kristen Ward (who just released her new CD, Roll Me On, on Friday evening at the Sunset in Ballard) and the website of the day is girlsandcorpses.com.

POC 8 – CrapMonkey Podcast – Pieces of Crap #8

In this nugget, I’ve got about 20 minutes of audio to share from our Labor Day camping trip to the Big Pines Recreational site in the Yakima River Canyon.  We spent five days there relaxing around a campfire, floating down the river, and even hitting the Kititas County Fair.  Photos are available on Flickr.

It’s been a while since I’ve delivered a show, but I have a long one for you tonight.  First of all, head on out to SeattlePodcasting.net and check out the podcasts we did with the Youth Media Institute as well as the great podcasts created by the DigiGirlz Technology Camp.

In this episode, we share a little beer news (including a product called the beer belly), I also share some conversation from a Fantasy Football draft I attended this weekend.  Not getting your fill of restroom reviews lately?  Check out these video game restroom reviews at Maxim Online.

The song of the day is Stories and Fables by Jeff Fielder and Zach Harjo.  The Website of the day is Washingtonbeer.com (check out WABL if you are a Washington beer lover).  We close the show with a song called Flames in Synergy by a band called Inner Surge (keep an eye on these guys).

It’s a busy summer in the land of the crapmonkey.  This weekend the CrapMonkey held a Brewfest that proved to be a most excellent time.  Images from the brewfest are available on my CrapMonkey Flickr Account.

Brewfest 2006

There are some great events brewing in Seattle.  Hempfest is coming up on the weekend of the 19th, as is the Barely Audible Music Festival at the Redhook Brewery in Woodinville. We are also getting close to OktoberFest Season. The Fremont OktoberFest is the weekend of September 22nd and the Leavenworth Oktoberfest starts the last weekend of September (watch last years video).

The song of the day is On a Podcast (aka – That Podcast Song) by Cruisebox and the website of the day is RealBeer.com.  We close the show with “All the Good Things” by Jeff Fielder.

CMP-07-28-2006: CrapMonkey Podcast Episode 103

This episode is pretty random (and fairly crappy to boot).  After ranting a bit about my trip home on the bus and my tiny messy house, I share my space-saver BBQ idea (see below image).  Also, here is a link to the litter box idea from many episodes ago.  In short, it’s a system for selling litter in the litter box – so that you never have to scoop litter again.  Attach the lid to the new “bottom” and throw away the old one.

BBQ

I also chat a bit about the Sunset Bowl in Ballard and the Seattle Tattoo Expo.

The song of the day is Gut Bucket by James Brown and the website of the day is the retouch demo.  We close the show with Stories and Fables.

CrapMonkey.com has finally gotten a facelift.  I migrated over to Dreamhost as my hosting provider and I have relaunched the site on wordpress.  The key benefit is that the blog, podcast and website are all integrated into one (finally).

In this episode I introduce the 2006 Passionate Podcaster Contest being hosted by the Seattle Podcasting Network and share a restroom review of Mulleady’s Irish Pub.

The song of the day is Rollin’ and Tumblin’ by Jeff Fielder and the website of the day is Coastr.com.

Bare in mind, it’s about 1:30am following a long day of conferencing and socializing.

Thursday, June 1st 2006:

We had a great Memorial Day Weekend camping trip and had a lot of fun out in nature. We also enjoyed getting out of the elements now and again at the C7 Bar in Quincy (go C7 Junkies). There are a few film festivals you may be interested in. The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), the Seattle True International Film Festival (STIFF), and the Stranger’s Amateur Porn Film Festival (HUMP). Also, be sure to check out http://siff.hollywoodreviews.com for interviews fresh from SIFF.  Looking for something to do this weekend? The Georgetown Music Festival and the Pike Place Market Street Festival are a couple of things to consider. A little further out, you may want to mark the calendar for the Fremont Fair on June 17 and 18 and the Seattle International BeerFest June 30th through July 2 (great way to finish off Gnomedex, eh?).

The Song of the day is Orange by Boldface and the website of the day is more of a product really… Windows Media Player 11 is now in beta!

Saturday, May 6th 2006:

It’s a very busy time of year but there are a lot of interesting things going on. Mindcamp wasa blast and I learned a lot (in fact, I just bought an RFID Kit to play with). Wendy and I will be taking a roadtrip on the 101 in late June if you have any suggestions for us or would like ot hook up as we pass through your town. Intersted in HD DVD? You may want to listen to the DVD Weekly Podcast’s review of the Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD Player. If you are looking to store some content online, Box.net gives you a free gig of storage and reasonable prices for increasing the space.??Also, Smartphone users may wish to check out Microsoft’s SLAM for networking with groups while mobile.??They’re talking about making Starblazers into a movie again. (My rough draft for a live action television version of Starblazers is located here).

There is a restroom review of the Chupacabra in Phinney Ridge in this episode and the website of the day is orb.com. The song selections today include Blame Amy’s Last Hurrah and Dad. Blame Amy are a great band making the rounds on podcasts and their new CD is now available for only $10 (which includes shipping).??Support indie artists and buy a copy.

Crapmonkey Podcast – Back Episodes

Prior to Spring of 2006, the Crapmonkey Podcast didn’t have an actual corresponding blog. In those early days, I actually updated my Podcast RSS feed manually in Notepad each time I created an episode. As such, the Crapmonkey Blog doesn’t align with the Crapmonkey episodes as you travel back from this date. However, the video player below contains all of the previous podcast episodes. If you wish to go back to the very beginning, just click on “More Episodes” in the player below.
